Weather, slight frost, starting good, sunny blue sky, afternoon turned cloudy at 16.00 hours.
M.S., Kevin and I arrived at Dungeness around 07.30 hours.
On the drive in we saw
Wheatear, 1
Around the moat and the lighthouse area was 'birdless', I saw nothing except the resident house sparrows !
On the shoreline by the patch
Iceland Gull, 1
Common Tern, 1 (my first this year)
Then moving onto the RSPB Reserve, very quiet,
Reed Bunting
Cetti's Warbler, 6+, very vocal, heard only
Sedge Warbler, 2, heard only (another first this year)
Reed Bunting
Dunnock
Marsh Harrier
I sat on the ramp for an hour in perfect sunshine and not a breeze and watched 3 Marsh Harriers

Next (it was very quiet!), was early breakfast at the 'Bikers Cafe) then back to the ARC Pits.
Little-ringed Plover, 1
Little Egret, 4
Long-tailed Duck, still always very distant
Goldeneye
Spoonbill, 1, asleep, it did not even lift its head up in the hour
Coot
13.00 hours, still quiet, change of location was needed, we headed off to Oare Marshes
14.00 hours, arrived at Oare Marsh, it is still a nice sunny day.
On the East Scrape

Black-tailed Godwit
I first took a walk out to the West Hide, nothing.
The clouds started to come in, exactly as forecast,
I spent a futher hour sitting by the reedbed hopeing to see a Bearded Tit, I briefly saw one, and heard them on two occasions.
Poor light and little to see brought an early close to the day.

Hello Richard, just found your blog and web site. You have some cracking pictures on the web site. I must of just missed you today, I read on Micks blog that you had been to Oare. Like you I have been chasing nothing around for the past week or so.
