Majorca, 4th and 5th, May, 2012

Day 6  and 7

We started our day at 07.00 hours as usual on location at s'Albufera Reserve, the power station entrance track.

Great Reed Warblers, 10 +, heard constantly, very brief sightings

11.30 hours, change of location, we  head for Formenter, back up the mountain road, this time not going as far as the lighthouse. We miss out some view points, people and cars, but stop first at a refuge / small farm, orchard surrounded by the usual stone wall, gives excellent views of must be recent arrival migrants.

We move on to a small parking place, within a mile view of the lighthouse peninsular, 400 feet cliffs, (that's a guess estimate), we go to our favoured positions, absolutely excellent place

17.00 hours, back now at Albufreta, again the light is perfect.

I go for a look first at the Kentish Plover on the shoreline, again with 1 Sanderling
Osprey, 2, 1 very close, I miss the photo

Then I moved back to the same position as yesterday and waited

Sun is getting low,

Bee-eater, 15, flew over

a move to near water gives another photo opportunity of a Black-winged Stilt, (probably 1 of 100+ seen on this trip

21.00 hours, seeing the Scops Owls and listening to Stone-curlew and catch up chat with the holiday birders.

Day 7, FINAL DAY.

The sky is cloudy, the light is 'not good', it stays that way all day so no photography !

we move up for another visit to the Bouquer Valley,

from the lower views over the orchard we see a distant

I continued for a walk up the valley on my own, M.S. wandered off his own ways !  Off note, 2 Blue Rock Thrush,

17.00 hours, the grey sky had been with us all day ! We headed off to Palma for our flight home to Gatwick.
