Bonaparte's Gull, Crossness, London, 7/7/2013

A relative close to home day out today, 06.00 Mick and myself are on site local to Mick, Crossness.
A Bonaparte's Gull has been reported seen here yesterday !

It's a glorious day, forecast to be the hottest day so far this year ! Perfect blue sky !

The Tide is full out !

With help, the Bonaparte's Gull was found and watched at times coming into the Sewage Outfall to feed, rather distant, then spending time loafing on an even more distant pier rail.

Mediterranean Gull, 1 adult, distant on the mud

As the tide came in, the gulls came in closer to feed,

400+ Black-headed Gulls
1 Bonaparte's Gull, full summer plumage.
Common Tern, several, close in joining in the civilised feeding frenzy of activity

If I took my eye off the Bonaparte's for a second, then I found very difficult to locate !
A good Gull watch for sure !

1 Bonaparte's Gull in about 400 Black-headed Gulls

As the tide came in the gulls came in closer to feed

A bit of size comparison, (and more dainty).

Then up close !
